Care/Washing

What’s the best way to wash a Baby Chaleco?

The sooner the better after removal, especially if your baby spits up a lot. This will help prevent the growth of funky smells.

We are required by FTC guidelines to recommend washing in accordance with the fabric manufacturer’s instructions.  Accordingly, the care label instructions on all our garments say machine wash cold and tumble dry low.

However, our product testers can do whatever they want and typically after one cold wash, they end up in warm water in mild laundry soap such as DREFT™ or Woolite Gentle Wash™. Sometimes a few teaspoonfuls of bleach get snuck in there to get rid of smells, especially if a wet Baby Chaleco has been sitting for a few days. The bleach gets added after the washer is full of water, and before adding the clothes to minimize fading. Tumble dry warm seems to work fine too.
